For the first time ever Audi is bringing the RS 3 to the United States. The 400 horsepower compact sedan will begin sales as a 2017 model when it goes on sale later this year, then see a slight price hike on the 2018 model.
Those wanting one of the first RS 3’s will be able to snag one for $54,500. If you wait too long though, you’ll have to opt for a 2018 model that starts at $54,900. The 2017 base price will yield you Audi’s virtual cockpit digital cluster, 19-inch wheels, navigation system, carbon fiber trim and red brake calipers. No word yet on if the 2018 model will add additional features to compensate for the $400 hike.
Both the 2017 and 2018 model will be powered by Audi’s turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five with 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. In typical Audi fashion, that power will funnel through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and Audi Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
Audi will formally show the U.S. version of the RS 3 next week at the New York Auto Show.
