Toyota has released a teaser image of its FT-4X Concept in advance of the New York International Auto Show.
While the body of the FT-4X is hidden in the photo, a chunky wheel is prominently featured, along with a lower front bumper painted in vibrant orange offset against a black upper bumper.
The FT-4X is expected to take the form of a crossover with off-roading capabilities. Promoted as being “Four Wheeling, Scene Stealing,” the FT portion of the name stands for “Future Toyota” while the 4X implies that it will be four-wheel drive or a 4×4.
Industry sources have speculated that the FT-4X could be a spiritual successor to the FJ Cruiser and reside on a version of the Toyota New Global Architecture platform that underpins the C-HR subcompact crossover.
Look for the FT-4X to make its debut on April 12.
