Hot Hatch Version of Toyota Yaris to be Revealed at Geneva Motor Show

Following-up on a design sketch that the company teased a month ago, Toyota has announced that a high-performance version of the three-door Yaris hatchback will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Powered by an engine that will produce “more than” 210 hp, the hot hatch is said to be inspired by the Yaris WRC that is set to make its racing debut later this month at the Monte Carlo Rally.

Toyota hasn’t committed to whether or not the high-performance hatch will be available in the U.S. market, although we suspect that it could be positioned to compete against Ford’s Fiesta ST.

Beyond the announcement of the high-performance hatchback, Toyota indicated that the Geneva show will also showcase design changes for the entire Yaris lineup, including new front and rear styling, a modernized interior and “a raft of technical modifications” that will yield improved comfort and handling.
