Unbeknownst to most people in North America, the Suzuki Swift is one of the best selling models in the world. In 2015, the Japanese-based automaker sold over 590,000 units. This is in thanks mostly to India, its largest market. Now, Suzuki is hoping to repeat its success with a seventh generation model.
Debuting first in Japan, the all-new Swift is unmistakably a Swift. Although more different in design than the fifth to sixth generation, the hard points still give it away easily.
The sub-compact will be offered in three engines: 1.2L , 1.0L Turbo, and a future mild hybrid (which have been a hit in India for Suzuki as of late). The Swift can also be equipped with all-wheel-drive.
Sadly, we will not be able to buy this Suzuki in the US or Canada due to the automaker’s pull out a few year’s ago. However, you still might see a few on the roads in the Southwest due to Suzuki still selling in Mexico.
Th hatchback should be followed soon by a sedan version – the Suzuki Dzire – but this will only be offered in India and select other emerging markets.
