2015’s best selling midsize utility vehicle goes to the Hyundai Sante Fe/ Maxcruz, as it has for the past few years. The Korean model sold 371,860 units during the year.
The Sante Fe benefits greatly from its two distinct body styles, which allows it to sell a 5-seater and 7-seater. This is opposed to other brands which split the 5-seater and 7-seater into two different vehicles, such as Ford and Nissan. The vehicle benefits from its home market of Korea and strong sales in North America and the Middle East.
The Maxcruz nameplate is used for the 7-seater model in South Korea.
The second best selling midsize utility vehicle in 2015 was the Ford Explorer, which sold 299,229 units. If the Explorer was combined with the Edge however, it would outsell the Sante Fe.
