Infiniti Teases Upcoming Redesigned QX80

Infiniti is offering up its first official look at the redesigned QX80. The teaser show showcases the front clip of the SUV ahead of its scheduled debut at next month’s Dubai Motor Show.

Earlier this year Infiniti previewed the QX80 redesign with the QX80 Monograph Concept at the New York Auto Show. Based on today’s preview of the real deal, Infiniti did not bring much of the concept to production. Instead, the new one looks more like a heavy refresh of the current QX80.

Based on the teaser shot, the new design is really a blend of current QX80 and design cues from the rest of the Infiniti family, such as the QX60. Although it appears it is a design improvement over the current one, it isn’t nearly as exciting as the Monograph, which had slim LED headlights and a more dominate grille design.

Those interested in the new QX80 won’t find much new under the skin, either. The QX80 will remain on its current platform, which dates back to 2011. Additionally, it will continue to be powered by Nissan’s 5.6-liter V-8 mated to a seven-speed automatic.

The only possible powertrain change? Infiniti may add a smaller displacement engine option, such as a turbo V-6.

A full look at the new QX80 will happen next month at the Dubai show.
