A few days after releasing a teaser of it, Infiniti has gone ahead and released a full image of its QX80 Monograph Concept. The concept SUV looks rather production ready, because Infiniti says it is a thin preview of the next QX80 full-size SUV.
As noted from the teaser shot, the QX80 Monograph is really a sizable departure in terms of styling from today’s bubbly QX80 design. The new design theme is more in line with the likes of the Q60 Coupe, meaning the headlights are thinner and the double-arch grille is taller and wider. Overall, the look is certainly more aggressive and arguably far more attractive than the current production QX80.
Of course Infiniti is staying mum as to how close to production this concept really is, but common sense says it’s not far. The only official remark is that it previews what Infiniti can do to enhance its entry into the luxury SUV segment.
Rumor is that the new QX80 could arrive as early as next year. A new version would probably be wise on Infiniti’s part, given the current one is selling well and a new one would likely keep the sales momentum rolling as consumers cling toward SUVs.
Infiniti will formally reveal the QX80 Monograph next week at the New York Auto Show. While we know what it looks like, supposedly it features new technology that Infiniti has yet to talk about, so stay tuned.
