Infiniti is slated to reveal the 2022 Infiniti QX55 on November 17th. Originally slated for November 11th, the delay has led to Infiniti dropping a teaser to build more interest before its debut next week.

The QX55 is technically a new nameplate for Infiniti, but it won’t be an all-new vehicle entirely. Instead, the QX55 is slated to be a more dramatic looking QX50. Think of this as Infiniti’s answer to the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and BMW X4; an SUV with a coupe-like greenhouse.

Speaking of the greenhouse, the teaser show only validates a steeply-raked roofline and more car-like appearance overall versus the QX50. There’s also slim taillights that seem to have a nod to the QX50’s lamps, but are slightly different–and more dramatic–than the ‘normal’ SUV version. All in all, Infiniti seems to be applying the standard luxury coupe SUV playbook here.

Infiniti actually helped kick off this bizarre coupe SUV craze years ago with the original FX, which Infiniti is saying the QX55 is effectively a spiritual successor.

Expect most elements of the QX55 to be nearly identical to the QX50. This means the same VC-Turbo 2.0-liter inline-four will be under the hood, while the interior isn’t likely to deviate much from the QX50 either. Subsequently, features and content will likely be similar, if not identical, as well.

The 2022 Infiniti QX55 is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in spring of 2021. Expect it to carry a slight price premium over the QX50’s $38,975 price tag.
