Mercedes-Benz continues a slow striptease of its upcoming Concept EQ A ahead of next week’s reveal. Today the company released a rather revealing sketch of the EQ A, confirming that it is indeed a hatchback with two doors and a rather sporty appearance.
As noted from the first teaser of the EQ A, it features a front clip that’s similar to the Generation EQ concept revealed in 2016, including the blue and white lighting with a lighted three-point star. Today’s view informs us that Mercedes designers have appeared to make a hatchback that looks luxurious and sporty at the same time.
The sheetmetal is dramatic like we expect from a Mercedes-Benz product, but the hatchback greenhouse maintains a sporty look. The sport factor likely intentional as Mercedes will leverage the production version of the EQ A as an entry-level product aimed at younger buyers.
A production EQ A is expected around 2019 with production taking place in Germany. The car will be completely electric with an electric motor powering the front wheels of the car. Technical details remain a mystery, but undoubtedly more details will be released next week during the Frankfurt Motor Show.
