It’s not unusual for automakers to release official “spy shots” of upcoming products. However, this may be the first time an automaker has released an official spy shot that includes the Chairman of the company taking a selfie in front of said future product. Nonetheless, that’s what has occurred here with the upcoming Mercedes-Benz A Class and Daimler AG Chairman Dieter Zetsche.
Commonly referred to as Dr. Z, he apparently wanted to share his affinity for the new A Class by taking a selfie with it. The photo was subsequently posted on LinkedIn as part of an article he penned on the importance of vehicle testing.
Of course, the news here is the car in the photo, not the article he wrote. Although the new A Class is fairly heavily modified with camouflage in the shot, some details are noticeable. As expected, the car appears to borrow cues from the AMG GT Concept, including the grille layout and design. The front and rear fascias also look more angular than recent Mercedes products, noted by the recent Concept A, which previewed the A Class.
The production version of the A Class will likely be revealed later this year.
