Mercedes has announced the price tag for the first-ever Mercedes-Maybach SUV and, as expected, it’s hefty. The latest Maybach will start at $161,550 when it hits in the market.
The $161,550 price tag includes a mandatory $1,050 destination charge. At that price point, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 is priced in a league with the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Naturally, the GLS600 has similar ultra-luxury features, including things like a rear seat refrigerator, champagne cooler and flutes. Buyers will have the option to have two captains chairs in the rear or three seats, but only the two outboard seats will recline and offer heat, cool and massage functionality. Rear seat passengers will also have a seven-inch touchscreen display to control all of the creature comforts.
On the outside, the GLS is getting the typical Maybach treatment. This means there’s optional two-tone paint and unique wheels, while the front fascia has been modified with, of course, more chrome and the iconic Maybach grille design. Rounding out the exterior is the Maybach badge, which is found on the D-pillar.
For now all Maybach-badged GLS’ will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with 550 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. More powerful options are expected later on.
In addition to being the first Maybach SUV, it’s also the first Maybach produced in the U.S. Oh, that also means it’s the most-expensive vehicle built stateside.
