Mercedes-Benz recently leveraged the Shanghai Motor Show to show off a concept version of the upcoming GLB SUV, but that wasn’t enough teasing. The thinly-veiled concept has been followed up with a teaser of the actual production vehicle, which is slated for reveal later this summer.
Appearing on the official Mercedes-Benz Twitter account, the dark image depicts the all-new GLB Class, showing off its sleek taillights and modern interior design.
As expected, the production iteration of the GLB isn’t likely to deviate much from the concept version. This means the boxy SUV design will be on dealership lots, devoid of the aggressive wheels and luggage rack found on the concept.
The all-new GLB Class is based on Mercedes front-wheel-drive MFA platform, which also underpins the new CLA and A Class sedans. The shared bones will likely shine through in terms of interior design, of which the GLB will likely share many components with the two sedans. Expect the primary source of the GLB to be Mercedes’ 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, also found under the hood of both sedans.
Expect all details on the all-new 2020 GLB Class in the next few weeks.
