Mercedes-Benz will utilize next month’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas to reveal the all-new 2020 CLA Class. Per usual, Benz is giving us a shadowy sneak-peak of the new sedan with the above shot.
Various spy shots and voiceover have already told us the new CLA will borrow many of its design cues from the recently redesigned CLS, which this shot seems to confirm. There’s a very curvy, coupe-like roofline that looks like a mini CLS. Subsequently, the car looks evolutionary versus today’s CLA as well.
The big news with the CLA will be what’s inside the car. This will be the first Mercedes-Benz product with a new iteration of the brand’s already new MBUX infotainment system. This iteration will feature the ability to identify user requests based on movement and augmented reality navigation. Mercedes Assistant will also have the ability to understand indirect voice commands.
Like the new A Class sedan, the new CLA will ride on Mercedes’ MFA2 front-wheel-drive architecture. The exact engine options are still total speculation, but an appearance by Mercedes’ turbocharged 2.0-liter seems likely here. Mercedes-AMG is also already working on a new CLA35 and CLA45 variants.
The CES show will commence on January 8th. Expect all of the details on the 2020 CLA at that point, while it is expected to hit Mercedes showrooms in summer 2019.
