It wasn’t much of a secret at this point anyway, but official photos of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Class have leaked ahead of its scheduled debut tomorrow. The photos showcase the next evolution of Mercedes design language inside and out.
As is usually the case with Mercedes, there is a lot of predictability here. The new face of the CLS is perhaps the most noteworthy as it is varied from other recent vehicles wearing the three-pointed star. The overall front fascia is angled forward, similar to the iconic AMG GT R and (oddly enough) some of Mercedes’ recent electric concept cars.
The progressive front clip design is attached to body lines that are not unusual to the brand. Although not a swoop-infused as today’s CLS, this one too is elegant looking from the side.
Around back the CLS has sharpened its angles and looks more like recent Mercedes coupe designs, such as the new E Class Coupe.
Much like the exterior, the new interior is also remarkably predictable. As appears to be the case with all Mercedes products going forward, the German luxury brand has installed its massive two-screen display panel as the centerpiece of the CLS interior. Draping that display is turbine-inspired HVAC vents and an overall design theme that is similar to the new E Class interior, for which the CLS is based off.
While there’s little left to the imagination already, expect more CLS details within the next day or so during its scheduled debut at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
