Mercedes is keeping with tradition by offering the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe in Edition 1 trim first. Like usual, this means the GT is getting some sizable cosmetic makeovers for those who aspire to own some of the first GT’s off the assembly line.
Only the top-end GT will be offered in Edition 1 trim. This means it is powered by AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with 630 horsepower and all-wheel drive. While the inner parts are carryover from the normal GT 63 S, the look is unique.
Like other Edition 1 cars, Mercedes has dressed the GT Edition 1 in matte grey paint with offset stripes. A rear wing and unique 21-inch AMG wheels round out the exterior treatment.
Inside offers similar cosmetic upgrades. AMG has given the car a unique black and grey interior color palette that’s set off by yellow accents. Additional carbon fiber and piano black finishes round out the upgrades inside the GT.
Of course, we won’t see any version of the GT until early 2019. Expect the Edition 1 to be among the first to arrive to market as the most expensive version of the car offered. Pricing is anyone’s guess until Mercedes announces it closer to production.
