By now we all know the manual transmission is dying of a slow death. Clearly Mazda has gotten the memo as well, as the 2017 Mazda CX-5 has ditched its manual option. The compact crossover will officially be an automatic-only vehicle.
What’s a bit odd about the situation is that Mazda will continue to offer the CX-5 with a manual option in Canada and Mexico, but the U.S. is being left out.
Prior to 2017, Mazda offered a manual on the base version of the CX-5. The lack of the base manual has driven up the base price of the CX-5 for 2017, along with an increase associated with more standard equipment.
