Enthusiast site Kia World reports that a trademark submission from the South Korean automaker suggests that its upcoming small SUV could be named “Stonic.”
Citing inside sources, the website claims that the mini SUV has been developed in parallel with its Hyundai equivalent and has been caught testing.
Both the Stonic and its Hyundai sibling are said to share a common powertrain and will be offered with 1.4L and 1.6L T-GDI engines. A 1.6L CRDI diesel engine is also expected to be available in Europe.
Look for the Kia Stonic to make its world debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, followed by the North American introduction at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
