Kia's Stunning Stinger GT Aims for Luxury Elite

 Source:Road & Track | Publication date: Jan 8, 2017 | Author(s):Travis Okulski

When was the last time you heard “Kia” and “stunning” is the same sentence? Most likely never, but that has ended!

Photos of the all-new Kia Stinger GT have leaked ahead of this afternoon’s unveiling and the 4-door sedan looks its part.

Contrary to its Genesis sisters, this Kia has the looks to back up its name (perfect, right?!) and rear-wheel-drive architecture. The vehicle makes use of that architecture with a long hood and short rear end. The overall profile is reminiscent of the Audi A7. You can still recognize it as a Kia due to a similar rear door design as the Optima.

While the exterior is stunning, the interior is rather derivative with clear copying of Mercedes from the air vents to the screen.

Under the hood is a 3.3 V6 Turbo producing 365 HP and 376 lb. ft. of torque.

Look for the Stinger to be poisoning the sales of competitors soon.

We will have more on the Stinger GT as it comes in including live pictures from NAIAS in the coming days.

It's interesting that you mention the G8 - I see some vague similarities.

    Agreed, hence my intrigue.

I'd prefer a V8 but if the TTV6 is reasonably affordable I'll have to consider it.

Not bad looking at all. Kind of dig it. Still hate pop up nav screens though.

I wonder where Kia intends to price this attractive sport sedan. Eventually I'll have to replace my beloved 2009 Pontiac G8 GT with something.

The details will be released tomorrow but evidently Kia says the Stinger will start somewhere between $30-40k.
