Feeling that the last generation Prius Plug-in was not enough to differentiate it from the normal Prius, Toyota has renamed the second generation as the Prius Prime. With the new name, this plug-in version gains different front end and back end styling.

Toyota 2017 Prius Prime comes standard with a huge 11.6 inch center console display that could rival Tesla. Toyota also estimates the plug-in hybrid will come with 120 MPGe and will travel 22 miles on pure electric mode. It will also be able to drive up to 84 MPH with EV mode.

The 2017 Prius Prime will be available later this year in all 50 States.
