Honda has started dropping teasers of its upcoming 2022 Honda Civic. The teasers are leading up to a planned November 17th reveal of the eleventh-generation Civic in concept form.

Automakers have certainly had to get creative with car reveals in this COVID-19 era and Honda may be taking the cake for most creative when it comes to the Civic reveal. Honda will take to social media gaming website Twitch to reveal the Civic at 5:00 pm PT before its full reveal at 6:45 pm PT. While Honda refers to this reveal as a prototype reveal, Honda’s recent “prototypes” have basically been the production car with the word “prototype” attached, so we fully expect it to be a near-production car.

Along with the reveal announcement Honda issued the below teaser video. The 15 second spot shows a number of design traits of the new Civic; enough to confirm that this redesign is fairly substantial. Based on this teaser, spy shots and patent filings, we expect the 2022 Civic to look much like a mini Accord in sedan format.

Aside from the general design theme, it’s anyone’s guess as to other specifics of the all-new Civic. The current car is powered by a 158 horsepower 2.0-liter in base form, while EX models feature a turbocharged 1.5-liter with 174 horsepower. Civic Si and Civic Type R models are also expected to be retained in the 2022 model year.

The 2022 Honda Civic is expected to arrive in dealerships sometime in spring 2021.
