Cadillac CT4, CT5-V Debuting Later This Month

The Cadillac CT5 may have just debuted, but that isn’t stopping GM’s luxury brand from showing off the hotter V version later this month. According to reports, Cadillac will pull the cover off the CT5-V and CT4 sedans on the 30th of May.

Several media outlets are reporting they’ve been invited to a reveal event by Cadillac for the 30th. Supposedly the invite confirms the reveals will be of two new V-Series sedan variants, specifically the CT5-V and CT4-V. Since we’ve seen the CT5 already, the only new news will be the V, but the CT4 has not been shown publicly in any form.

Of course, it is anyone’s guess as to what will be under the hood of either new V car. The CT5-V will almost certainly have a V-8 under the hood if it intends to be a spiritual successor to the current CTS-V that packs 650 horsepower. One obvious option would be Cadillac’s new Blackwing V-8 found in the CT6 and CT6-V, which offers 500 and 550 horsepower options.

Power for the CT4-V is even more ambiguous. Given the CT4 will be Cadillac’s new entry-level sedan, a V-8 is unlikely in this one. It’s more probable we’ll see a twin-turbocharged V-6 under the hood, similar to today’s ATS-V.

Stay tuned on May 30th for all the details on Cadillac’s new V-Series models.

Very curious to see what Cadillac comes up with for these -- and whether tires, wheels, stance and trim can improve the CT5's ho-hum (IMO) looks.

Really, a CT5-V is now a tweener between the M3 and M5, so hard to tell if they aim at the M5 and go V8 (Blackwing?) @ 600+ hp or aim at the M3 and go TTV6 and @ closer to 500. Or do something completely different -- love to see a performance hybrid leveraging GM's considerable experience in batteries and electric motors, for example.

There is a 500 hp version of the blackwing. I’m guessing that’s the one we get in the CT5. I’m hopping for a manual in the CT4 so I’ll be happy for the 3.6TT to carryover but we will probably see the 3.0TT in the CT4.
