It's been known for awhile now that Ford is planning to leverage the Bronco name on a model beyond just the iconic off-roader. Known as the 'baby Bronco,' photos of the new SUV have surfaced online revealing it as the 2021 Bronco Sport.*

Revealed thanks to the folks over at BronocoSportForum.com, the photos show a completely naked version of the Bronco Sport in what appears to be a higher trim level. The photos show a crossover-based small SUV that almost looks similar to that of the Jeep Renegade. Similarities to the Renegade come as little surprise as spy shots of camouflaged versions of the SUV showed off a similar silhouette.

Bronco Sport is expected to be built atop the same architecture that underpins the 2020 Ford Escape. Ford intends to bring a two-prong approach to the compact SUV segment with the Escape and Bronco Sport; with the Escape taking a more car-like approach with its 2020 redesign. Meanwhile, Bronco Sport will be an SUV-like, off-roader which echoes through with its design.*

Ford is planning to reveal the 2021 Bronco Sport next month at the New York Auto Show, assuming the auto show remains on the calendar due to the pending COVID-19 outbreak in the city.**
