2021 Cadillac Escalade Ups Luxury Game

After a few leaks, it wasn't much of a secret anymore. Nonetheless, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade has officially been revealed. Using the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban as a foundation, this new Escalade is layering in a host of luxury features and a very distinctive interior that set it apart from the pack.*

“There is something special about driving an Escalade,” said Steve Carlisle, Cadillac president. “It has the bold presence and exclusive technology to elevate the extraordinary and make every drive feel like an occasion.” *

Headlining this new Escalade is something that certainly makes a modern-day statement: a screen. Yes, Cadillac's headliner is a new 38-inch curved OLED display that stretches across the dash panel of this new Escalade. The real estate is comprised of three individual displays; a 7.2-inch touchscreen to the left of the driver, a 14.2-inch gauge cluster screen and a 16.9-inch infotainment display. Cadillac says the curved nature of the display is not just for design, but is also to optimize viewing.*

There's a lot of new technology features that leverage the massive network of displays. For the first time in a GM product, there's a new augmented reality navigation system, similar to ones found on some of Cadillac's German competitors. There's also a new 3D view surround view camera system, night vision and trailering integration package.*

Hooked up to the OLED display is a new AKG sound system (yes, Cadillac appears to be ditching Bose) that features 36 speakers with an optional audio package. The system even has a conversation enhancement feature to make it easier for folks up front to talk to those in the back of this beast.*

Those driving the 2021 Escalade will also enjoy some benefits. Keeping with the technology theme, Cadillac's Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system will be an option on this Escalade. Super Cruise will pilot an Escalade that finally has an independent rear suspension system that works in conjunction with Magnetic Ride Control and an optional air ride suspension system.*

Powering the wheels of this Escalade will be a familiar sounding V-8 engine. A new variant of the Escalade's 6.2-liter V-8 is under the hood with carryover power figures of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.*

Those wanting something other than the V-8 can--for the first time--opt for GM's 3.0-liter Duramax diesel inline-six with 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both the gas and diesel engines are mated to 10-speed automatic transmissions.*
