2021 GMC Yukon Revealed With Distinctive Denali

Following the recent reveal of the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC has fully revealed the redesigned 2021 Yukon lineup. While most attributes of the 2021 Yukon are as-expected, there are a couple surprises, including a unique interior design for the Yukon Denali.*

Much like its Chevy cousins, the exterior design on the 2021 Yukon is evolutionary from today's versions. This isn't necessarily a bad thing given the current Yukon lineup is already a fairly handsome group of full-size SUVs. GMC has effectively taken a chisel to Yukon design; making the 2021 edgier, borrowing cues from other recent GMC models like the Sierra.*

Also borrowed from the Sierra is a new AT4 model, which features a two-speed transfer case, 20-inch Goodyear*all-terrain tires, traction Select System with off-road mode, hill Descent Control, skid plates protecting key areas of the underbody, AT4-exclusive leather appointed seats and stitching, unique Jet Black interior color theme with Brandy accents,* and heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and heated second-row outboard seats.

Inside, the regular Yukon interior is basically a carbon copy of the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban interior, similar to the relationship between today's SUVs. Like the Chevy models, this new interior looks to be a big improvement over the current one, though we're going to cautiously reserve judgement until we see the material quality up close.*

Also like the Chevy models, the base engine on the 2021 Yukon is a revised version of the current 5.3-liter V-8. Buyers will also have the option to opt for GM's 3.0-liter Durmax diesel inline-six; marking the first time a diesel engine has been offered in the Yukon.*

Denali buyers will also be able to upgrade to a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All three engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic.*

Speaking of the Denali, GMC is pushing the Denali label upmarket on the 2021 Yukon Denali. The quest upmarket starts with giving the Yukon Denali a completely unique interior design; down to the dash panel. In general the Denali interior looks classier than the base Yukon; a design similar to Audi interiors, in fact.*

Housed inside the Denali interior is not just a unique dash, but also unique seats, unique color options and a fancy new power-sliding center console.*

As expected, all iterations of the Yukon house all of GM's latest technology options. They also feature independent rear suspension for the first time ever.*

The 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali will go on sale this summer.*

That AT4 is fantastic. The expanding center console is strange, it'll be interesting to see how that goes over. I was secretly wondering if a multi-pro version of the liftgate was going to make an appearance.
