Refreshed 2021 GMC Canyon Brings First-Ever AT4 Model

GMC has revealed a refreshed version of the brand's midsize pickup for 2021. The very mild revamp includes the first-ever Canyon AT4, bringing the brand's off-road franchise to the Canyon order sheet.*

GMC has opted to focus on the addition of an AT4 model in its announcement regarding the 2021 Canyon because the refresh itself is so tame. On the outside the Canyon is getting a larger grille thanks to a new lower fascia treatment. That's literally the extent of this refresh. Headlights and taillights are both unchanged, which is a bit odd for a refresh.*

Canyon AT4 models--like other AT4 models--features a few unique bits. Those bits include*31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires fitted to 17-inch aluminum wheels, off-road tuned suspension,*Eaton G80 Rear Automatic Locking Differential and transfer case skid plate.*

From a design perspective, AT4 buyers will get dark chrome accents and red recovery hooks. Inside GMC has given the AT4*Kalahari stitching and AT4 headrest embroidery to match the other GMC AT4 models.*

In addition to the AT4, GMC has also updated the look on the 2021 Canyon Denali. The iconic Denali grille design has been updated to be what GMC calls more detailed. Coupled with 5-inch chrome assist steps, signature chrome accents and Denali-exclusive 20-inch Diamond Cut aluminum wheels, Canyon Denali now looks more like its Sierra counterparts.*

Interior refinements include authentic open-pore ash wood trim, aluminum decor and unique stitching. A new Cocoa/Dark Atmosphere color theme further elevates the Denali interior and gives customers more options. Standard heated and ventilated front seats with a heated steering wheel increase driver comfort.

Both Canyon AT4 and Denali are powered by a 308 horsepower 3.6-liter V-6, unchanged from the 2020 model.*Additional power comes from an available 2.8-liter Diesel engine, offering 369 lb-ft of torque.

The 2021 GMC Canyon will hit dealerships later this year. Expect pricing to be announced closer to launch.*
