Honda's First EV has a Name

Honda has announced the name of the company's first dedicated battery-electric vehicle. It will simply be called the Honda e, when it begins production later this year.*

The e will be the production version of Honda's cute little Urban EV prototype the company showed earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Praised for its retro design, the production version is expected to be a five-door hatchback design with a lounge-like interior.*

Honda hasn't told us much about the e's powertrain, other than confirming it will be a battery-electric vehicle with the engine mounted at the rear. This is actually going to be the first Honda vehicle built atop the company's new dedicated EV platform.*

Honda has stated previously it expects the e to offer at least 124 miles of range and offer a fast-charging technology.*

Production of the Honda e will commence later this year, but customer deliveries are not expected until early 2020. For now Honda has confirmed the e will be sold in Europe, but has not confirmed other countries just yet.*

Considering it's a Honda it will sell like hotcakes on a Saturday morning over at the local IHOP.
