BMW and Mercedes-Benz originally made crossover coupes a thing by adding derivative models of nearly every SUV in their respective portfolios. Years after the trend commenced, Infiniti has confirmed plans to enter the crossover coupe game now too with the 2021 QX55.*

Infiniti has confirmed plans for the QX55 by releasing the above sketch, which shows off the QX55's side profile. Despite the dramatic, abstract sketch, the QX55 is expected to be a four-door model. Infiniti says its side profile is inspired by the FX, but that's not entirely obvious from the image. Not much else can be gleamed from the sketch.*

Thus far Infiniti hasn't offered additional details on its upcoming future product. When it arrives next summer, expect the 2021 QX55 to be based on the same platform as the QX50, which means Infiniti's new variable-compression ratio turbocharged inline-four will undoubtedly rest under the hood.*

Expect additional details on the 2021 Infiniti QX55 in the first part of 2020.**
