After taking a break from the market, Fiat Chrysler's EcoDiesel V-6 is back in the 2020 Ram 1500. Ram has formally announced pricing for the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, which will allow Ram to say it offers the cheapest diesel offering in a now crowded segment.*

The cheapest Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will come in at $38,885, which includes destination charges. That price point will yield buyers a*Tradesman Quad Cab with the diesel's torque going exclusively to the rear wheels. Those wanting more features than the base Tradesman offers can ultimately option the EcoDiesel engine on nearly any trim level as a $4,995 standalone option. For the first time ever, buyers can check the diesel option on the Ram Rebel as well.*

From a cost of entry perspective, the Ram EcoDiesel is now the cheapest half-ton diesel on the market. The Chevrolet Silverado with its Duramax diesel comes in at $42,385, while the Ford F-150 with its PowerStroke diesel starts at $46,255. That said, both competitors offer additional features versus the Ram Tradesman; option the Ram up to the level of the Silverado and F-150 and it comes closer to the latter.*

Ram has confirmed the 3.0-liter V-6 will offer 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Those power figures will give the Ram a maximum towing capability of 12,560 pounds; the highest of the three.*

What remains unknown about the Ram EcoDiesel is its official fuel economy ratings, which have yet to be released. Expect those details very soon as the engine will start appearing in dealerships in weeks.*
