Well, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray almost remained a secret until its reveal in just a couple hours. For better or worse,*Esquire*has leaked what appears to be the real 2020 Corvette Stingray and even some official stats.*

According to the leaked article, which was published to Apple News, these photos are official from General Motors. They depict a car that, frankly, we already knew how it looked from all the official spy shots The General has shown over the last several months.*

The overall design really isn't a homage to Corvette's past. Instead, this looks like a Chevrolet that is attempting to compete with supercars from Ferrari and Lamborghini. This parity stems from the fact this C8 Corvette shares the same mid-engine layout as most Italian supercars.*

Despite the unfamiliar design, Corvette enthusiasts will be pleased to know that a removable roof will still be an option. The leaked article also confirms there will be a couple different cargo locations, including a trunk at the front of the car, known as a frunk.*

As expected, the C8 Corvette will be powered by an all-new 6.2-liter V-8, dubbed the LT2. Different from today's LT1, this engine will generate 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. That's enough power to send this mid-engine Corvette from zero to 60 mph in under three seconds, according to Chevy. By comparison, today's 755 horsepower ZR1 manages a similar stat.*

Connected to this new V-8 is, sadly, only an automatic transmission. Chevy says the unit is a new dual-clutch eight-speed automatic, confirming rumors this 'Vette would not offer a manual option.*

The leak also confirmed Chevy will offer a Z51 Performance Package with upgraded brakes and exhaust and added cooling.*

Expect to hear the rest of the details in the next couple of hours, unless they end up leaking out too.*
