Sources familiar with the negotiations between the two automakers tell*Reuters*the two automakers have reached a tentative agreement that will allow for Ford to leverage Volkswagen's MEB electric vehicle architecture. The MEB architecture is slated to be VW's primary vehicle platform in the future, underpinning all of the company's battery-electric vehicles.*

And, so it begins. When automakers share platforms (and, presumably, similar batteries and motors) all the the driving character will come from controller software. Can Ford some up with something that feels distinct from VWs on the same platform? We'll see ... but, it works in consumer electronics. Samsung makes its own phones and components for iPhones, yet despite some shared ingredients, each has it fans and detractors.
