    Cadillac Teases Hotter V's After Disappointing Yesterday

    Cadillac is aiming for a public relations rebound after yesterday's V-Series announcement. Today the company teased alleged hotter versions of the CT4-V and CT5-V at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.*

    The two flashy camouflaged sedans appear to be beefed up versions of the CT4-V and CT5-V that were revealed yesterday. Of course, Cadillac isn't saying anything about the two sedans aside from calling them the "future of Cadillac’s V-Series."

    By all intents and purposes Cadillac appears to be created a tiered V-Series brand to make the badge more accessible at lower price points, such as the CT4-V and CT5-V revealed yesterday. The CT4-V revealed yesterday is powered by a 320 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, while the CT5-V is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 with 355 horsepower; both sedans are considerably dips in power from the ATS-V and CTS-V of which the replace.

    It's safe to assume these two testers shown today are more in line with being direct replacements to the aforementioned V cars of today.*

    What was so disappointing about yesterday. Caddy haven’t abandoned the sport sedan market in the US. The cars look good and it looks like all the Vs will be able to do 0-60 in under 5 sec. oh and all are still RWD. It would be nice to have atleast one Manual in the bunch but I’m still waiting to see what’s so disappointing. No one has driven anyone of these cars yet to call them a disappointment.

    Looking at today's ATS-V and CTS-V and those two as the next models is disappointing to say the least. They're not even competitive and other makes have non-performance models pushing out more power.

    The C43 just nudges out the CT5 but the rest are behind. Then the CT4 beats all of its competition the A class, A3 etc...

    The issue isn't the cars, it was the messaging. GM has said 'stay tuned' so many times and not delivered; they needed to be a lot more explicit about how they are evolving the V lineup and how the cars will be distinguished from each other.

    If they had called the car announced the CT4-V 500 (which is what it will probably be called using the new torque-based engine designation) and explicitly said that they are planning a 'Ring tested CT4-V x00 for those wanted a dual purpose road/track car, media would have had a better understanding where these cars fit in the market. Instead, the key message was of Cadillac softening the Vs'. That's a message failure on GMs part.

    Once we know more about pricing and how the cars drive, we can assess if they are any good or not. But, they way GM launched them didn't do them any favours.

    This. The cars themselves are probably fairly competitive, but the naming and messaging behind their release was an utter disaster. All the PR people who got fired when Cadillac moved back to Detroit probably got a good laugh this week.

    Speaking of the cars themselves, Cadillac is playing a game here. The CT5 is really close to the 5-Series and E-Class, in which case the CT5-V revealed this week will get its ass handed to it from the E53. Price-wise it will likely be closer to the C43, which still has an edge, but probably not enough to overtake it (though a new C Class is coming).
