Details Emerge Regarding Rumored Small Ford Pickup

America's love affair with pickups and utility vehicles is not going unnoticed at Ford Motor Company. Rumors the Blue Oval is working on a compact, unibody-based pickup are starting to advance in detail.*

Chatter that Ford would rollout a new vehicle under the recently-launched Ranger are not new. That said, in a new*Jalopnik*report details how this new truck will be based on a front-wheel-drive unibody chassis, likely developed by the same engineering team that develops Ford's commercial vehicle line. Some of the information coming directly from a Ford engineer's post on social media.

Further details suggest the new truck will be named the Ford*Courier when it enters production sometime in 2021. The Courier is speculated to be powered by Ford's 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which offers around 245 horsepower in most other Ford applications. An additional hybrid variant is also expected, utilizing a next-generation version of Ford's 2.5-liter*Atkison cycle engine.

The front-wheel-drive pickup will also be offered with all-wheel-drive.

Assuming reports are accurate, it appears the Ranger will be getting a little brother in 2021. Given Ford is axing nearly every sedan in its lineup, it comes as little surprise the company is working on new models to restock its showrooms.**

I hope these reports are accurate. I wouldn't mind having a small "trucklet" like this.
