Global Best Selling Vehicles in 2017

After another year, and a bit of a delay, we once again bring you a complete list of the best selling vehicles in the world. 2017 was another great year for the overall industry and for many of your favorite models.

Once again, like clockwork, the global, eleventh-generation of the Toyota Corolla was the best selling vehicle. This is a title that it will likely keep for the foreseeable future as the Auris and Japanese-market Corolla are set to merge with the global model with the next generation model.

The second best selling model and also the best selling truck was the Ford F-Series with a new yearly record at over 1.082 million units. The F-Series controlled over 38-percent of the full-size truck market during 2017.

Next, in third place, was the Nissan Rogue/X-Trail. This is where the sales table might get interesting for this includes the sales of the Rogue Sport in the US, which is known as the Qashqai elsewhere. Due to this cheating of its numbers, it might be possible that the Honda Civic was actually the third best selling vehicle.

The move towards crossovers was evident in 2017 as it was in 2016. Four the Top-10 and seven of the Top-20 were crossovers. This is likely to continue in 2018 and beyond.

Luxury wise, the BMW 3-Series/4-Series was once again the best selling overall vehicle. In terms of luxury crossovers, however, there has been upheaval. The Mercedes GLC-Class has overtaken the Audi Q5 for the top crossover. This is likely due to the GLC’s two bodystyles and it being a switchover year for the Q5.

Take a look at the best selling vehicles below all the way from #1 to #1,258!

    Toyota Corolla XI/Levin < 1,279,922*
    Ford F-Series/Lobo – 1,082,158
    [RNMA] Nissan Rogue/X-Trail < 880,303*
    Honda Civic – 829,975
    VW Golf – 829,612
    Toyota Rav4 – 812,869
    Honda CR-V – 755,925
    VW Tiguan – 727,091
    VW Polo V,VI/Vento(World)/Ameo/Virtus – 725,737
    [RNMA] Nissan Sentra VII/Sylphy II/Pulsar sedan < 725,200*

I think your Lincoln Continental number is off. I am showing 12,012 in the US, 576 in Canada, and 11,320 in China for 23,908. I don't have Mexico or Middle East numbers though.
