General Motors has announced it will stop reporting monthly sales figures. Instead, the company will issue quarterly sales releases, which it says better reflects sales trends.*

“Thirty days is not enough time to separate real sales trends from short-term fluctuations in a very dynamic, highly competitive market,” said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president, Sales Operations.*“Reporting sales quarterly better aligns with our business, and the quality of information will make it easier to see how the business is performing.”

The change to quarterly sales releases will not reduce the amount of information GM releases. The company says it will continue to report detailed sales figures by model, including information about its fleet mix and other statistics found within the monthly results.*
