Buick Expands Avenir Sub-Brand With LaCrosse Avenir

Last week we discovered a Buick LaCrosse Avenir was in the works, and now it is official. Buick has formally revealed the second vehicle destined to wear the badge of its new Avenir sub-brand. Buick says the LaCrosse Avenir is in response to the simple fact LaCrosse buyers are buying the high-end models already.*

“Nine out of ten LaCrosse buyers are choosing one of the top two trim levels — customers are signaling they want more from Buick,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. “With even more content and an elegant look, Avenir adds a unique name and appearance for those who want the best of our attainable luxury.”

The formula with the LaCrosse Avenir is much like that of the recently-launched Enclave Avenir. This means the exterior has been dressed up with a new three-dimensional grille insert and chrome "wings," while 19-inch pearl nickel wheels and Avenir script add some glamour.*

Inside, the Avenir gains a specific*Chestnut interior color theme, while Avenir script is embroidered in the front headrests to remind folks they opted for the best Buick. An Ebony interior offering will be optional.*

Much like the Enclave and Buick Avenir's sister-sub-brand GMC Denali, the LaCrosse Avenir is stacked with standard content. The LaCrosse's 310 horsepower 3.6-liter V-6, navigation and Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound are all standard. Even LaCrosse's panoramic moonroof is standard here.*

Buyers will still have to pay extra for twin-clutch all-wheel-drive, Dynamic Drive Package featuring continuous variable real-time dampening control and a suite of advanced safety features.*

Buick says the LaCrosse Avenir will arrive in dealerships in early 2018.*

My goodness, this car just keeps getting better and better. Only needs 3.6L TTV6 to be truly epic.

Well, given that large sedans are a declining segment, it seems to make sense to focus on margins. Hopefully, this will move the big Buick sedan up a notch, which would help justify its continued existence and improvement. That all said, I suspect this car exists because of the Chinese market.

That is the only thing that's missing. With declined sales I'm surprised that they didn't include the engine because it really wouldn't hurt the XTS V-Sport much. Crossovers are there main enemy now.

I don't think an XTS buyer would touch a Buick, so it'd just be gravy for GM and probably justify another $1k to the Avenir price tag.
