Mini will utilize next month's Frankfurt Motor Show to show off a concept version of the upcoming electrified Mini. AutoCar reports the concept will provide a preview of both the design direction and powertrain technical specifications ahead of the car's planned 2019 launch.

Parent company BMW Group recently confirmed plans to produce an electric version of the iconic three-door Mini at the company's UK assembly plant. Subsequently, it confirmed the powertrain will be produced at a BMW facility in Germany. The electrified three-door model will be the first of several electric models the brand has planned.

Details of the electric Mini are still fairly scarce. Rumors suggest the battery-electric car will offer at least 250 miles of range; a figure that is nearly a prerequisite for being taken seriously in the electric car market these days.

The new Mini is slated to serve as the first of a host of electrified models BMW Group has planned.

200 is the bare minimum now. 250 is going to be expected out of such a small car.
