The last Ford Falcon Ute was scheduled to be built today in Melbourne, Australia after 55 years of continuous production.

Introduced in February 1961, the XK Falcon Ute was first produced at Broadmeadows and Eagle Farm in Brisbane. Seven generations and 467,690 units of the utility version of the Falcon were produced.

In May 2013, Ford Australia announced that it would end local production of the Falcon and Territory in 2016 as a result of high costs and limited sales.

Ford Australia’s manufacturing operations are scheduled to close on October 7.
