Ford Reveals Edge SEL Sport Package

Everyone wants to be unique, which has automakers rolling out special editions all the time. This time, it’s Ford rolling out a new appearance package on the Edge crossover. The Blue Oval brand revealed the Edge SEL Sport Package today at the Dallas Auto Show.

Ford has basically taken the midnight-finished grille from the Edge Sport and applied it to the SEL trim level. Throw in unique 19-inch dark wheels, mirror skull caps and skid plats, and you have the new SEL Sport package.

Inside the SEL Sport has some more substantive changes. Buyers are treated to unique dark grey cloth seats that feature orange faux suede inserts for a very unique look. The sportiness is accented further by orange trim on the dash. Ford even has a reason why the SEL Sport has cloth seats.

“The decision to offer a cloth interior on a higher series model that features more standard equipment and technology comes at the request of customers who reside in markets with more extreme weather conditions,” Ford says. “Dallas averages more than 230 sunny days a year, and because cloth seating materials tend to be more comfortable in the heat, Edge sells about 5 percent more non-leather seats in Dallas than the national average.”

Those interested in the Edge SEL Sport can checkmark the option box this fall for $1,295.

Although I'm not a fan of this latest trend to black out everything including the wheels, I think this Ford Edge looks pretty good that way. I love the interior too.

played with xnView(free graphics program) & I'd like blue and red pseudo-suede -- not (nec.) together at same time -- maybe even a naturalish TAN (tho would need deep-brown pLeather with it, not grayishBlack)

    I'm tOtally OverdOsed On eurO-ORANGE...
I like the black and white look on the exterior the rest is meh
Meh... I'm not feeling this one. It doesn't improve upon the original Edge very much.
I am usually not a fan of the blacked out wheels thing but on this I kind of like it. They did a nice job on the interior too IMO.
