Ford Recalls 1.3 Million Pickup Trucks

Ford Motor Company has announced a voluntary recall impacting 1.3 million pickup trucks in North America. The recall is associated with faulty door latches that could cause water to infiltrate the door, eventually leading to the failure of the latch.

According to Ford, the recall is impacting some 2015-2017 F-150 and F-Series Super Duty in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Ford testing shows that the faulty latches are failing after exposure to water, which could cause the door to open randomly.

Ford says it has no reports of accidents or injuries associated with the problem.

In an effort to remedy the problem, Ford dealerships will be instructed to inspect the door latches and actuation cables. If needed, they will be replaced and a new water shield will be installed to prevent future water damage from occurring.

Owners of impacted units will be notified by Ford. In total, 1,344,605 units are impacted.
