It’s a done-deal for some. Ford has confirmed it plans to reveal its Ford Ranger Raptor off-road truck on February 7th. There’s a caveat though, because there’s no sign that this Ranger Raptor will be offered in the U.S.
The reveal is slated to take place in Thailand, fitting as the new Ranger is bound for the Australian and Asia Pacific markets. Motoring reports the truck will debut with an all-new 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine. The engine is expected to be mated to Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission, which was co-developed with General Motors.
Aside from confirming the Ranger Raptor for some global markets, Ford is not saying if the Ranger Raptor will make its way to the U.S. market. That said, the company is rumored to reveal the U.S. version of the all-new Ranger at next month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
A redesigned version of the global Ranger is expected to be revealed at the Bangkok Motor Show in March. It isn’t clear yet how many similarities will exist between the global Ranger and the one bound for the U.S. market.
