Ford Motor Company has started production of the fourth-generation Expedition at its Louisville, Ken/ assembly plant. The all-new model is arriving with a new aluminum body and significant upgrades over the previous version.
The formula with the new Expedition is similar to that of the F-Series truck lineup in which it is based. Ford has shed about 300 pounds from the Expedition thanks to extensive use of aluminum, while power is coming exclusively from Ford’s EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 engine.
However, the new Expedition is borrowing another trait from the truck lineup as well: price. The 2018 Expedition has seen a sizable price hike to cover its newness; that aluminum body is obviously expensive. That said, the Expedition is priced within the bounds of competitors such as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Toyota Sequoia.
Consumers should start seeing the 2018 Ford Expedition arrive in showrooms within the next few weeks.
