Ram will be utilizing this week’s Chicago Auto Show to reveal two new special editions of the Ram truck, one for the half-ton and one for the heavy duty model. While both are just appearance packages (meaning no mechanical upgrades), Ram will likely have no trouble moving them off dealer lots if other special edition pickups are any indicator.
The first of the two is the Ram 1500 Copper Sport. Aside from the namesake exterior color, this limited run model will come with unique 20 or 22-inch wheels, black headliner and black accents on the exterior. Inside yields copper colored accents on the headrests, seats and other trim areas.
The cool part with this one is that FCA is limiting production to only 3,000 units, so this is a special edition that will actually be reasonably rare. All Copper Sports will be Crew Cab V-8’s. All 3,000 units will have a starting price of $46,950.
Ram is also announcing the Ram Heavy Duty Night edition, which is obviously similar to the Ram 1500 Night edition in the sense that it’s basically a factory black-out option. With the Night package, all exterior chrome features are blacked out, down to the wheels and headlights.
Inside, Ram Heavy Duty Night features black vinyl and cloth seats, but otherwise is a typical Ram.
Like the Copper Sport, the Heavy Duty Night is available only in Crew Cab form, but buyers can add the package to the 2500 or 3500 versions and to either the gas or diesel engines. The price tag on the Heavy Duty Night starts at $46,840 in two-wheel-drive, 2500 format.
Both special edition Rams will hit dealerships later this spring.
