2020 Ram EcoDiesel Fuel Economy Announced

Finally, the last piece of information regarding the returned Ram EcoDiesel has been released. The EPA ratings for the diesel half-ton are in, with a maximum figure of 32 mpg highway. The rating puts the Ram toward the top of the pack, but not quite the leader.

The 2020 Ram is still bested by the Chevrolet Silverado 1500’s Duramax inline-six, which is rated at 33 mpg highway when equipped with rear-wheel-drive. That said, the Ram EcoDiesel has managed to best the Ford F-150 Powerstroke and GMC Sierra. Adding four-wheel-drive to the EcoDiesel drops its highway rating to 29 mpg, while the city ratings are 22 mpg and 21 mpg, respectively.

Despite being a little shy on fuel economy, the Ram’s 3.0-liter V-6 does churn out more torque than the Chevy. It is rated at 480 pound-feet, giving it the towing crown of the diesel half-ton segment with a 12,560 pound rating.

As previously announced, adding the EcoDiesel V-6 option to the Ram 1500 will instantly add $4,995 to the price tag. Buyers of any Ram 1500 model can add it as an option, including on the Ram Rebel for the first time ever.

The 2020 Ram EcoDiesel will begin arriving into dealerships later this year.
