Bugatti designer Alexander ‘Sasha’ Selipanov has left Bugatti in favor of Hyundai. Yep, the world-famous car designer will be joining Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis.
Selipanov moved to Germany after attending the Art College of Design in California, where he joined Volkswagen. His influence was first seen on the Lamborghini Huracan, just prior to migrating over to Bugatti. At Bugatti his first project was the stunning Vision Gran Turismo Concept, the car previewing the Chiron.
At Genesis, Selipanov will report directly to Genesis design boss Luc Donckerwolke, who’s also a VW veteran. Selipanov had this to say to Road & Track about his career move:
“I am sincerely excited about this opportunity, because it will be a new chapter in my career. As I have been working with well-established brands so far, Genesis is a new and refreshing challenge to me. In addition, I am also honored to join this exciting journey, as it is a very rare chance to launch a luxury automotive brand and be part of its history. With growing expectations and curiosity around Genesis, I cannot wait to contribute my expertise and passion to the brand.”
It’s safe to say Hyundai is assembling quite the team to develop the future of its infant luxury brand. Now to see how well they execute.
